It has been over a decade since the last Harry Potter book was released and here I am still hung up on the magical world. I’ll probably love it as long as Prof. Snape loved Lily, dedicate a portion of my future library for everything Hogwarts, and make sure my children and grandchildren read and re-read the books.
How cool would it be if this was actually the way in??
Maybe I’ll make HP-themed places too, like the King’s Cross Cafe in Seoul’s Hongdae district. Like Platform 9 3/4 in the series, this cafe is your gateway to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The four-floor brick building is basically an interactive Harry Potter museum. There’s no entrance fee but you have to buy a drink to go beyond the first floor. That’s really very cheap considering everything you’ll find inside.
Alohomora! Mr. Ollivander’s Wand Shop as soon as you enter Still on the 1st floor, you need to buy a drink to get through this partSecond floor, probably the most muggle of all four levels. Mostly tables and chairs but oozing with Hogwarts feels! Apparate to the next level if you’re in for more magic!See those muggles outside? That’s what happens when you don’t arrive early, you’ll have to fall in line!Staircases are filled with old paintings. Don’t be surprised if one of them moves haha!Next up is what looks a lot like the Great Hall. With the Harry Potter theme playing endlessly in the background, it sure feels like actually being in Hogwarts!Like the actual Great Hall, it’s candlelit! You only need a drink to get in but I wanted to have a proper “meal.” I wish the plate gets instantly refilled though!Brings back memories of Ron and Hermione arguing at the Gryffindor dormitory! “Now, if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed or worse… expelled!”School robes, scarves, a few Hogwarts books… lots of props here for photo ops!
After eating, you put your tray here. A (house elf) server goes up every few minutes to put them at that dumbwaiter.Fourth floor’s more open space for IG photos. Grab a table here if you’re planning to stay in the cafe for a while. Kinda reminds me of the Three Broomsticks, perfect for hours-long chats like that one!Madam Kat having too much fun with the chandelier!
Hope you enjoyed that King’s Cross cafe tour! Have to go now. Quidditch game in five minutes! Team captain’s scarier than Ginny!
First year and already a seeker. Merlin’s beard!
How to go to King’s Cross Cafe:
Take subway to Hongik University station Exit 9. Cross the street and walk two more blocks until you reach the Tous Les Jours cafe, turn left. Go straight two more blocks then turn right. It’s impossible to miss!
Great post 😁
